Jentry's Journey: A Blessing and a Gift
Jentry's journey has been one of my most rewarding and heartwarming experiences. From the very first moment I met her, as she participated in a jump training program where I happened to be filling in, I saw a spark — the self-determined young lady with a deep desire to prove to herself, and sometimes others, that she could be not only a valuable teammate but an inspiration.
It wasn’t long before Jentry made an impact. She dove into that program wholeheartedly, even training at home with her own Shuttle MVP machine — alongside her brother, always striving for more. Her commitment was relentless. Soon, she became one of the brightest and most influential mentors in BYOP® Lovejoy. Her friend Morgan introduced her to the program, and from then on, Jentry’s presence brought energy and warmth to us all. |
As each of the BYOP®-Lovejoy sessions began, year after year, I witnessed Jentry's grace and leadership as she helped players of all ages. It was more than just a program for her — she once shared that BYOP® was a place where she felt safe and could make a difference. In her journey, she trained privately and in groups, surrounded by amazing young women like Jayden, Kayla, Emma, Rosie, Gracie, Maya, Rachel, Dylan, MaryKate, Scout, and Ava in our RNN Training and GoKids Youth Sports™ programs. Together, they grew, supported each other, and became more assertive in volleyball and life.
Jentry’s summers were filled with dedication, whether it was jumping in the pool with Dylan or challenging herself to be the best academic student she could be. Her creativity shone through in everything she did. She was even as my co-host on our RNN Zoom Training during COVID interviewing college coaches, Olympians, and leaders in volleyball. When we tested our buckets, her dad added a giant cooler cup, and her mom sewed handles. And there we were, pushing boundaries with puffers of all sizes, developing new skills. From testing silly bands to perfect the topspin for attacking, serving, and down balls, VERT testing, and the latest jump rope routines we crafted with Ava and Maya, Jentry was always there — ready to innovate and try something new. To say she was essential to our product testing is an understatement.
Today, Jentry continues to Pay It Forward, mentoring and teaching kids with the same dedication and passion she’s always shown. I have no doubt she will be an incredible teacher for children of all ages when the time comes. And I’m eagerly awaiting to hear which pharmacy graduate program she’ll choose because we still have more to do — new training devices to test for our GoKids Youth Sports™!
How do I describe Jentry? Kind, dedicated, passionate, and innovative. She not only works hard but makes kindness contagious. Darla and John, thank you for sharing your beautiful daughter with me all these years. Though our paths may shift, we will continue exploring new directions and adventures together.
